Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot

We were so incredibly excited to be a part of Rue Magazine’s Wedding & Entertaining issue with this bold and colorful shoot produced by the amazing ladies at Be Inspired PR and headed by the designers at Gather Events. We had so much fun collaborating with this awesome group of vendors and providing the florals for this shoot that has already gotten so much LOVE!

In the words of Be Inspired PR on the Green Wedding Shoes Feature, From the beginning, we knew we wanted to create a wedding that captured the essence of summer. GATHER Events did just that when they came up with a playful yet elegant color palette and a design board full of lush florals. Summer weddings are all about embracing bold colors and patterns, rich florals and greenery and a playfulness that can only be found under the sun. We brought in fun details to perfectly bring our vision to life – ikat pattern, water color details, bold pops of Bougainvillea and Jacaranda, accents of fresh grapefruit and earthy, wooden details. The wedding gown we chose from Kirstie Kelly perfectly embodied our “sweet with a touch of spice” vibe. We paired it with a punchy fuchsia bridesmaid gown from Jenny Yoo.  ruesummer styled 20 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 07 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 19 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 18 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 17 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 16 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 15 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 14 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 13 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 12 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 11 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 10 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 09 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 08 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 06 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 05 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 04 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 03 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 02 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot ruesummer styled 01 Summer Wedding Inspiration Shoot

Shade Hotel Shoot

The Shade Hotel is such a cool and stylish luxury hotel in Manhattan Beach and it was the perfect place for this shoot. Aaron Young shot all the goodies you’re about to see and it all couldn’t have happened without the amazing Constance Curtis!

We had two floral concepts going on, and these upcoming pictures are the first concept.. A little bit of romance mixed with a lot of pretty in muted tones, all carefully designed with blush garden roses, lavender roses and ranunculus, ivory hydrangea and lisianthus, with touches of gold.

We then swapped out the arrangements with our second concept.. Something different. Still pretty, still romantic, but a lot more bold!

Spring Engagement Session featured On Grey Likes Weddings!

Spring has sprung in today’s gorgeous engagement session shot by CHRIS AND KRISTEN PHOTOGRAPHY. Tasha and Eli chose a wildly romantic location and some fresh blooms created by THE VINES LEAF for just the right amount of seasonal inspiration for their engagement session. We made sure to ask Tasha and Eli the story of how they met and their proposal, which we know you’ll love, so keep reading as you obsess over their images. Seriously. How is this loveliness possible?

And do you remember how you two met?

At a casting the night before Valentine’s Day. He struck up a conversation asking if I had a recommendation for a costume shop of sorts where he might find some ‘Buddy Holly’ style jackets for his band, who were doing a 50′s sock-hop themed show the next night. I told him a few places to check out, and then he was like, “If you’re not doing anything tomorrow night, you should come.” And I said, “Perhaps.” And he was like, “Give me your number and I’ll text you the flyer.” And I started to give him my number, and he heard the area code, and he said, “859? Are you from Kentucky?” And I said, “Yes.” And he said, “Me too!” So then I was a little intrigued. And the bar where he was performing the next night was in my neighborhood, so I decided to go. And the rest is history!

Tell us your proposal story!

(Told from Tasha’s perspective…) We were visiting Eli’s family at his Kentucky farm. That’s his father’s land, and his grandfather’s land before that, and his great grandfather’s land before that. We thought we’d drive out to the lake and go fishing. Eli planned a picnic… Bottle of wine and wicker basket and checkered blanket and all. (And don’t forget that we met at a casting where we had to go on a pretend picnic!!) He was super nervous but I had no idea why, until he pulled my ring out of his pocket and got on one knee. We were both in tears. It was the happiest day of my life. We ran around the fields like two giddy little kids screaming we’re getting married, we’re getting married. It was magical.

Part II of the Style Unveiled Paper Challenge Shoot!

Part II of the Style Unveiled Paper Challenge Shoot!

Write up by Gianna SanFilippo of Chic Celebrations:

When I first saw the paper, I was with Mary and Jill and immediately we all started throwing words out. Moroccan, opulent, elegant, colorful… With that, the ideas started flowing. As I started curating the idea and pulling pictures of inspirations, it became clear that this was not a “soft, blush colored” shoot. We wanted bold color, bold statements and bold pieces. I liked the idea of using golds and brasses to accent the metallic in the paper. I wanted the table to feel like a family style feast. We incorporated vibrant fruits like Kiwi, Blood Orange, Pomegranate and Tangerines not only as color accents but as edible table elements. Jay’s Catering created a blood orange and mint libation as well as a blood orange and pistachio salad that was not only colorful, but was also delicious! Aly from The Vine’s Leaf seriously nailed it with her large, bright blooms and those brass lanterns were to die for. They were the perfect metal compliment to the paper. I liked the idea of using rich woods and vibrant pieces in the furniture, so the dining tables and mid-century modern lounge fromArchive Rentals was perfect. Jill (her talent has no end, truthfully) created a flower hairpiece for the bride. And it was a perfect pop. I really wanted to show brides that if you find an element you really like, you can incorporate that inspiration anywhere in your wedding. Your table, your hair, in a commissioned art piece, even directly onto your cake. Your wedding is all about you and your story, so if you find something that is reminiscent of you and your style – use it!!  Part II of the Style Unveiled Paper Challenge Shoot!

Style Unveiled | Paper Challenge

We were just recently a part of the most FAB group of vendors in this Paper Challenge that was put on by Paper Source and Style Unveiled.  Here is Heather, from Style Unveiled, “Sneek Peek”…Biggest Sneek peek EVER!! This will be a four part series, so stay tuned for more amazingness to come and the fill story behind the shoot from all of the amazing vendors!!

 Style Unveiled | Paper Challenge

I know that I originally said that I would wait until Monday each week to unveil a new addition to the Style Unveiled Paper Styled Shoot Challenge features … but there is so much goodness to share, you would be waiting FOREVER if I only shared them one day out of each week … so as editor of Style Unveiled I have decided to break my own rules :)  I am also changing things a bit today because this is part I of probably 3 from the team that was led by Jill of Copper Willow Paper Studio.  There were so many images that came in from Christine Bentley Photography and I couldn’t edit any out!!  Haha!!  So, instead of forcing myself to ‘delete’ images that are perfectly lovely, I am going to make this a 3-parter.

Today’s post shows off a touch of each element of this shoot … just a touch :)  The plate is beyond … beyond anything I would have imagined and the paper this team was sent is the most brilliant shade of green, which makes the plate even more enjoyable and adds so much to the table setting (which you will see in part II).  And wait until you see the floral arrangements from this day!!!  Insanely gorgeous byThe Vine’s Leaf.  I was especially excited to see that they chose Serra Plaza as the venue, as Serra Plaza holds a special place in my heart, as I was one of the first wedding blogs to unveil it.

Write up by Jill Velez of Copper Willow Paper Studio:

I first saw the paper challenge greatness on Instagram.  Heather posted a photo of paper she had found and my curiosity was piqued.  What was Heather up to with paper?!  After I heard the details, I knew we were in!  This was such an original and creative concept.  Our original first meeting was with Mary Lallande of Jay’s Catering and Serra Plaza and Gianna SanFilippo of Chic Celebrations.  My first impression of the paper was that it had a Moroccan vibe and after that was layed on the table, the creative juices flew from there!  We wanted an oppulent setting filled with warmth and rich colors, dark woods, and golds. While I helped bring on the team, our main focus in the studio was paper of course!  Our main goal was to use the paper in unexpected ways and expand the design to textures and objects that echoed the paper design.  The first idea that came to mind was the plate treatment.  I ordered a few extra sheets of the paper and clear glass plates and went to work.  We knew the lounge area would also feature some mid century pieces so we paired the plates with some simple octogon shaped menus.  This octogon shape is also the foundation for the invitation design.  The paper is housed in a deep 2.5″ box covered with deep aqua dupione silk and the octogon invitation rested in a nest of gold brocaded fabric.  We finished it off with gold threading wrapped with gold and cream beads and a gold broach on the top of the box.  Even the reply card and hand drawn map is in a narrow octogon shape.  We believe personalization only creates a more signature event, so we positioned small calligraphed paper strips throughout the table and displays.  This calligraphy, in gold and aqua, was used throughout for all of the text on the menus, the invitation and signage.  Our final touch was on the bride herself.  As a studio, we are branching out to explore the range of paper through florals.  The delicate paper flower in the model’s hair was hand made.  The final result of every detail put together was beyond words.  We were so delighted to be a part of such a creative team and to be able to watch everyone work that day.  The talent in the wedding industry is so deep and diverse.  It was truly a pleasure to watch the original vision come to life!
