Natural Springtime Wedding at The Villa

With Springtime coming up more quickly than we even realize, we thought we’d start this year off with one of our favorite weddings from last year! We’ve already mentioned before how much we love working at The Villa in San Juan Capistrano and we’ll say it again; WE LOVE IT! It is such an inspiring venue for a wedding and we always love being able to play off of it’s natural beauty in creating the florals for this venue. Katie + Chris’ Wedding is a prime example of how we accented the venue’s beauty with the natural look of ivory blooms, an array of natural greens, and the simplicity of succulents.

Summery California Backyard Wedding

We’ve been featured on The Wedding Chicks!!

We absolutely loved designing the florals for this bright, citrus colored, summery back yard wedding! Not only was it a beautiful California day, the colors, flowers, and decor were just so perfectly the epitome of California that if we didn’t already live in California, we’d totally be jealous of anyone who does! And not to mention, we got to work with LVL Events; it’s always amazing, we love them! The bride was able to hold her ceremony and reception at her aunt’s house in Beverly Hills and we were beyond thrilled when we arrived to set up; the views of Los Angeles were amazing from where we were! Thank you, Kristen and Tristan for allowing us to be a part of your big day!

From the Bride on the Wedding Chicks Feature:
Our vision was a classic, fun California Summer Beverly Hills wedding. I wanted to do something bright, playful, with a mix of rustic and modern touches. I wanted it to seem a bit mid-century modern Beverly Hills, too. I wanted people to feel immediately comfortable and happy when looking at the decor. My husband and I had been together for such a long time that all of our guests essentially knew one another, so I wanted to promote mingling whenever I could. That’s how we designed the general flow of the ceremony and feel.

The colors were like nothing I’ve ever really seen and it gave off this energy that reminded me of Miami/Los Angeles in the summer. With the help of all my incredible vendors, I was able to incorporate what I thought were disjunctive ideas into a cohesive vision that complemented not only the space, but my husband and me, us as a couple.

And for future brides, we think Kristen summed this up perfectly:

In terms of things I would have done different, there really aren’t many. I’m sure many brides say this but I would have slowed the day down. I would have taken notice of all the little things I spent so much time putting together, building, staining, designing, etc. I would have appreciated the guest table more, I would have eaten every appetizer we put out, I would have looked closer at all the flowers on the tables, I would have taken a close look at the cake. I felt like the day was such a whirl that I would have liked to have a snap shot of all these different little things in my mind!

50 Shades Freed Inspiration Board

With the recent announcement that 50 Shades of Grey is turning into a movie, we decided to blog about how we felt after reading the trilogy! SPOILERS AHEAD: Don’t read ahead if you haven’t finished the trilogy!

“They have the tent set up again and beautifully decorated in pale pink, silver, and ivory with its sides open, facing the bay.”  After reading the third and final book in the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy, Fifty Shades Freed, I was bummed that Christian and Ana’s wedding wasn’t written as detailed as I wanted it to be. We all waited for it to happen and E. L. James gave us less than 3 pages to picture it in our heads! With the little details given, my mind soared with possibilities of what their wedding could have looked like.

We love peonies, so peonies were a definite must. This pale pink peony bouquet would be perfection with its simplicity in Ana’s hands. Bouquet by: Petal Productions. Photo by KT Merry Photography

Of course we’d use our own Vintage Metals and Mercury Glass to incorporate the silver into their overall design. Photos by Chris+Jenn Photos

In our bundle, we incorporated a lot of pale pinks. Using chiffon and lace we wanted to see their wedding seem effortless and timeless, something that flowed beautifully and looked simple– something easy, unlike the beginning stages of their relationship! We even incorporated some nautical signage to symbolize the boathouse proposal and Christian’s passion for sailing. New Life . New Beginnings

nlnb 300x225 New Life . New Beginnings

Hello!

How I have missed you all! I am writing this little blog entry today with a very full heart that is in the state of major transitions.  As some of you may have noticed or heard over the past few months, there have been many changes happening in my life and the business,  with a big move, a new pregnancy and a very busy season filled with an amazing amount of weddings, that I have felt so very blessed to have been a part of.  In early August, we found out that we would be expecting our second little bundle of joy, Olivia Rose, who is planning to arrive into our world mid march of 2014.  With this new little piece of our lives starting to develop, I started to reevaluate where I was at in my life, what kind of mother I was being to my sweet little Ella and what kind of mother I would be to our newborn baby.  I felt a major pull in my heart to make some big changes to adjust to this precious growing family of mine.

This dream of mine, of being a business owner, an entrepreneur, has been with me since the very young age of 5 (or at least as young as I can possibly remember!).  It has been such an experience to grow this business, to watch it start up from a dream, in the most difficult economy conditions most of us have ever seen, into a real and tangible reality.  It has been incredibly rewarding, fulfilling, emotionally and mentally challenging, downright exhausting, and completely uplifting, all in one big huge bundle.  I will always be forever grateful for the relationships that I have made, the experiences that I have gathered, the knowledge that I have gained, and the strength and perseverance that I was blessed with to make this all happen.  With all of this being said, you are probably wondering what on earth I am getting at here.  With all of this (and way more) going on in my head and my heart I have made the decision to pass the baton of The Vine’s Leaf.  I wish I could thank each and every person who has ever been a part of my experience for anything and everything that they have ever done, from every friend and family member (most specifically and especially my husband) who has had to talk me off a ledge at difficult times, to every employee who has been there for me along the way helping with the workload, to every wedding professional that I have made a personal connection with, to every Bride who has trusted me and my team with her most precious vision, to every wedding blog who has so graciously featured our work.  There are so many people that I am incredibly grateful for their help in the building of this incredible business.  May these relationships continue to flourish in the capable hands of our new owners, whom you will very shortly meet. I hope to be seeing you all in the very near future!! It has been incredible!!

With Much Love,

Aly

Hello~

We are Tari & Anne Lilly… the newest members of The Vine’s Leaf team!

Creative soul-searching prompted a divine meeting with Aly which ultimately led us to The Vine’s Leaf. The path was prepared and the timing was perfect for us to be involved. Inspired by the exquisite details of The Vine’s Leaf, we knew we found our platform to build upon!

There is so much exciting news to share, but first and foremost we want to say that maintaining everything that you have come to know and love about The Vine’s Leaf is our top priority. The design team has remained intact and will continue to deliver the same unique style and thoughtful inspiration in all of our wedding day decor!

We are beyond thrilled for the Morford family as they embark on their next chapter and feel blessed that our paths crossed.

Our new studio in Huntington Beach is sprouting all kinds of creative seeds of inspiration and will allow us to offer new forms of Vine’s Leaf loveliness in the near future. Check back for details!

We love everyone we’ve worked with and met so far and can’t wait to meet the rest of you!
